How to Pimp Your Blog: Like a Boss

Here are a few simple steps you can take to make your blog

  1. Here is a list of pages you can add to your blog that are easy to make, and will add some extra awesome to your blog! :)

    • Animal Facts: a collection of all of the animal facts that can be found in Jamaa
    • About Me: a page of information about yourself, so that you can better relate to your readers. :)
    • Adventure Tutorials: a collection of picture or video tutorials of the adventures
    • Funny Pics: a collection of funny pictures or comics taken by yourself around Jamaa
    • Commissions: do you have a skill? You can do commissions on things like Animal Portraits, blog headers, etc.
    • Codes: list of active (and possibly inactive) codes
    • Animal Jam Blogs: list of other AJ blogs
  2. An icon. Make your blog more recognizable with a unique icon, or use a standard AJ logo, such as the green paw or paw icon. If you make your own, make sure it is a square image, and not too big.
  3. The more widgets, the better! Although this is not true if you add junky widgets...only widgets that contribute to your overall blog. Here is a list of (in my opinion) essential and not great widgets:
    • Essential:
      • Followers
      • Blog Archive
      • Search Bar
      • Pages
      • Profile
    • Non-Essential (but highly recommended to make your blog look nicer):
      • Images
      • Text
      • Translate
      • Poll
      • Blog List
      • Labels
      • Contact Form
      • Blog stats
    • Not recommended widgets for a blog, if you want it to look semi-professional to professional (you can still add these, but your blog won't necessarily look as nice, though it still might) :
      • Video bar with irrelevant videos or videos where the keyword was "animal jam"
      • Calendar (there is one widget in particular that does something weird to the page)
      • Fish--cute, but depending on your blog's look, won't add to the overall feeling.
      • Animated pets--like the fish, cute, but sort of have the feeling of "I need more widgets to add so this is just filler"
  4. Customize your FULL template. Go into "Template" and "Customize" and pick out colors that suit your blog. You can do seasonal themes, or pick one, solid, constant theme. Pick colors that will be easy to read.
  5. Add a custom cursor, but nothing too flashy or something that makes your screen lag. Visit the Commissions page if you want me to do it for you for free. :)
  6. Change the Anonymous picture to something cool. Visit the Commissions page if you want me to do it for you for free. :)
  7. Create a stylish header, not just words, or a picture taken from Animal Jam  with a few words overlayed (although in some cases, this works fine :]). If you make a header, try and make it the width of the blog, so it fits exactly. Visit the Commissions page if you want me to do it for you for free. :)
  8. Some page layouts work better for certain blogs. Find one that works for you.
I hope those tips are useful! :)

  1. That's really helpful! I'll try to put more of those things on my blog. :)
