Garnet:
Garnet is the birthstone for the month of January!
It signifies trust and eternal friendship, so it makes the perfect gift for a friend! The word garnet means "seed" because it looks like a pomegranate seed. The most popular color of garnet is red, although it comes in other colors.
Today, most garnet comes from the regions of Africa and India.

Amethyst:
Amethyst is the birthstone for the month of February!
In the past, it has signified royalty (in the Middle Ages). The Ancient Romans and Greeks believed that amethyst had magical powers; they would put it on their drinking vessels to prevent intoxication. It has previously been associated with myths and legends, and is still used frequently in jewelry.
Today, most amethyst can be found in Brazil, South Korea, and the United States.

Aquamarine:
Aquamarine is the birthstone for the month of March!
The word "aquamarine" means both "water" and "sea" because of its color. Sailors wore aquamarine to protect them and to have a safe voyage. Because of its cool color, aquamarine was thought to calm temper and make the wearer levelheaded.
Today, aquamarine can be found in Brazil and southern Africa.

Diamond:
Diamond is the birthstone for the month of April!
The word "diamond" means unbreakable in Greek. This is because nothing can scratch a diamond, except for another diamond. It is a 10 on the Mohs scale. Diamonds are also used in some power tools!
Diamonds can actually be found in a variety of colors, not just clear. For example, the Hope Diamond, one of the most famous diamonds in the world, is blue!
Today, most diamond is found in Central and Southern Africa, at below Y-16 (most commonly at Y-12). It can be found in all biomes.
