Drama Tips and Things

I've been noticing drama on some blogs...

If you have been reading this blog for a while, you have probably  noticed this, and if you haven't been reading for a while, here it is: I like to post tips and tutorials and helpful stuff and things. I generally won't post rants (I have before, only when I was 127% fed up with stuffz) and stuff like that (I'm not really sure if Super Annoying Things on Animal Jam counts as a rant...I like to think of it as posting on a topic that most of us can relate to :3).

So, instead of ranting about all this drama (which tends to make things worse), I've decided just to post some tips on drama. I'm not thinking of anybody in particular when posting this (what I mean by that is I am not directing this post at anyone, for example, I am NOT doing "SecretiveUnicorn, you should read this! It would help a lot!").

So, here is some stuff!

Tips for handling drama aimed at you:

• Defend yourself, but don't get angry and frustrated. Using the following scale of anger, try and stay on Level 1. It looks a whole lot better when you keep your cool.
• Level 1: Calmly answering questions, replying to hate comments, and dealing with that stuff in general. Key word: Calm.
• Level 2: You answer questions and deal with hate somewhat-calmly, but you are starting to lose your cool. Your comments aren't making as much sense, and you start using Caps to emphasize things, which tends to look...I don't know...aggressive? I have no idea...
• Level 3: Dealing with hate with constantly receding cool...you sometimes resort to Caps, or even a swear word or two...Behind your profile pic, your face is getting redder and redder.
• Level 4: Pffft. Steam is coming out of your ears, and your "calm, cool and collected" replies are STARTING TO LOOK LIKE THIS!!!!!!!>=C
• Level 5: If you are commenting on any blog with a respectable and decent owner who likes to keep the environment kid-friendly, your comments are being deleted by the dozen. Cool it down on the swearing!
• Make a post about it on your blog, but make it a defense of yourself, not a rant or complaint about the person who is accusing you. Stick to Level 1. 
• Make sure to handle it! Don't try and let it blow over; handle it with dignity and calmness. It will blow over eventually, once both sides admit fault (even if there isn't fault on one side, or regardless of how much fault each person has ["She said more bad stuff about me" "He started it!"]), or a compromise is reached.

Tips for posting on drama:

• Is it good to keep your readers in the know? By posting about it, you are probably spreading more drama. The people who read your blog will add their opinions to the mix, making it more jumbled. 
• But, if you have to (for whatever reason), follow these tips:
• Don't be biased. Even if you have an opinion, keep it to yourself. Sometimes....Opinions=Drama; Drama=The thing you are trying to avoid. There will always be some people who will disagree with your opinion. Among the people who disagree, there will be those who keep their opinion to themselves, and those who share it. Notice a pattern yet?

Tips for commenting on drama:

• Don't assume that you know everything about the situation.
• Listen to both sides before, if you must, posting a comment showing your support of one side or the other.
• Don't post an opposing comment on the other person's blog. Example: QuinnTheCat/vms915 and SecretiveUnicorn have been arguing and stuff for a while now. ShamelessNarwhal can't stand SecretiveUnicorn, and believes that Quinn is right, and SecretiveUnicorn is just stirring up drama. So, ShamelessNarwhal goes on to SecretiveUnicorn's blog, Animal Jam Magical Horns. Shameless proceeds to post the following comment: "OMG u shud totes quit, Secretive. ur blog sux. u suk. i hat ur gutz. if u quit ill thro a partee. it wud be dat awsum." Yeah, in hindsight, Shameless realizes she shouldn't have posted that, but it's too late. Only blog administrators can permanently remove comments (which I advised against in my last post), but they have probably already read the comment. ShamelessNarwhal, there goes SecretiveUnicorn's respect and tolerance for you.

And, lastly, here is a handy, 3-step guide to creating drama!

1. Don't.
2. Repeat step 1.
3. Always remember steps 1 & 2.

Faces, Faces, Faces!

There are many faces, used by people all over Blogga and Jamaa.
Everything from

For bloggers, faces can spice up your posts and comments (that you leave on others' blogs) by adding emotion, and can help you better connect with your readers!
Not to mention using the right punctuation at the right time.

As in, knowing when to use exclamation marks, etc.


Example:

Blah: I absolutely love that picture of Mr. Q. It is awesome.
Better: I absolutely love that picture of Mr. Q! It's awesome!
Best:  I absolutely love that picture of Mr. Q! It's awesome! :D

Just remember: Know when to use the right face at the right time!
Believe me, nothing is more irritating than when you're on Animal Jam, and someone is ending every sentence with "-.-" or ".-." and acting superior to you.
Example: Me (I'm an NM): "Can I ask you something?"
Other person (a member): "Fine -.-"
Me: "Do you like rares?"
Other person: "Of course -.-"

It gets kinda obnoxious after a while...

Post This, Not That!

Hey Jammers!

I was thinking and reading blogs (I was just thinking, not thinking blogs :P), and I came up with the idea for this post...

It seems like when people post certain things, they tend to get certain reactions...for example, by accusing someone of scamming, that person may turn up and deny it, as will his/her buddies and such.

So, here is a quick guide for new bloggers, as well as old bloggers (if they find it helpful), on what is good to post, and what not.


POST THIS:

Daily Update blogs:

• The new item, as frequently as you can
• Big posts on Update Day
• Little mysteries and things, after the daily item, to interest your readers
• Contests! Draw in new readers!

Random Stuffz blogs (like this one):

• Covering drama and tings (ONLY if you do it in an unbiased way. That is one of the key points of reporting...)
• Cool graphics, if and when you find them
• Contests! Everyone loves a good contest!
• Cool things you have found in Jamaa
• Fun events that you held in your den (fashion show, trivia contest, party, etc.)

NOT THAT:

Daily Update blogs:

• A two-line post (as it shows up on the Blogger Dashboard should NOT be a regular thing. Only if you don't have much time, are sick, need to make a quick announcement, etc. If your regular post looks something like this "Today's new item is the _____. Comment what you think about it!" probably needs to have some stuff added to it. 
• A huge, long explanation of why you didn't post, and then one line saying the new item.

Random Stuffz blogs:

• Detailed explanations of why you are rare, or rarer than _______. Doesn't look good.
• The new item, just because you are bored or are out of ideas for what to post.

Here are some tips in general:

• Don't remove comments unless they have swearing, or inappropriateness in them. If it is a hate comment, calmly reply, countering their argument, or something similar. Example: Hater: "Ok, that is SO not what happened. (Blah-blah-detailed explanation of what they think really happened in the drama story.) So shut your mouth. So-and-so is a super nice person. >:(" You: "Well, so-and-so scammed my Beta Old Blanket before, and she swore at me in comments, so (moar stuff)" If you get what I'm saying. :)
• If you are doing a report on a drama story/fight/scam story, try and stay unbiased, unless you were involved. This means:
• Don't state your opinion, unless you clearly stated above that it was an opinion post. Example: Covering vms915 vs. SecretiveUnicorn (a made up person, although that is a sweet username :P): "Here's the story: SecretiveUnicorn, a well known blogger, supposedly accused vms915 of being mean and saying mean things. Vms defended herself by saying that Secretive was talking to her impersonater, vms9I5, who was dressed exactly like her." Get the idea? Do NOT do something like this: "OMG SecretiveUnicorn, my idol cuz shez soooooooo rare, was sworn at by vms915, a huge jerk-face #!(#&!@$&!@#($&#@!$*@#*$&#&$@!" I know that was a stupid example, but anywhoo...:3
• Try and include screenshots/videos, if possible.
• Don't start drama to get pageviews and comments. More often than not, you will get pageviews, but not comments, or, at least, positive ones, if you are accusing another person of something without proof.
• Don't make stuff up. I'm not talking about a made-up name or birthday, but making up things that didn't really happened, similar to above. Example: "vms915 scammed my tan carpet!!!!" This does get you attention for many reasons (not the least of which is that I have never seen a tan carpet, much less had one. Not the good kind,  though.
• If you do Daily Posting, try and post every day. Posting once or twice a week sort of ruins the whole point of Daily Posting.
